Moringa Oleifera is the most common variety that is grown worldwide. In Maharashtra, due to availability of saplings, we mainly grow either of the three varieties (Pusa Giant, PKM-1 (most high yielding) and Shevga Sheng) Since this crop is pest resistant, requires minimal soil curing and can withstand even drought conditions, it is the most economical crop to plant and harvest and the same tree can bear fruits between 4 to 20 years. Availability: Although due to its plantation in many parts of India, reasonable supplies can be catered almost the entire year with some gaps in between, however in case of Maharashtra most of the harvest is done starting Mar until June end.
